What makes my hair MY hair?

Your hair type--straight, curly or wavy-- is determined by the size of your hair follicle. Large follicles usually mean that you have thick hair. Small follicles mean that you have fine hair. Melanin--the substance that gives hair and skin color-- determines the color of your hair. Often, the color of your hair goes with the color of your skin. Blonde, fair haired people often have light skin and those with dark hair usually have darker toned skin. Heredity plays a big part in determining your hair type and color too.
